The Microfilm Preservation Program

The New Delhi Office preserves in microformat a large number of publications acquired by the Library's overseas offices. The Microfilm Preservation Program includes publications that are:

  • published on poor quality paper that will not last long,
  • issued in non-stable techniques such as mimeograph, xerox, etc.,
  • so voluminous as to take an inordinate amount of shelf space and be difficult to use,
  • of greater research value if organized as a collection and microformatted together rather than treated as individual items.
For information on materials microfilmed and microfiched by the New Delhi Office, please search the databases For information on the microfilm program to preserve early twentieth century Indian publications
