Flexible Work Schedules

Our agencies offer a wide variety flexible work schedules that will enable you to balance your work life, personal life, and the needs of your family. Maxiflex is one of our most popular flexible work options, it enables our full-time employees to work 80 hours biweekly on ten or fewer workdays. An employee on maxiflex may request at least 1 nonworkday biweekly. While there are core work hours that must be worked, you will be allowed to vary your arrival and departure times. Working a flexible work schedule allows employees to voluntarily work extra hours for credit time which can be used later to take paid time off from work. See Notices below for more details:

  • PM2466 - For FSA and RMA National Office Nonbargaining Unit Employees

  • PM2369 - For FSA Field Office Nonbargaining Unit Employees

Fixed Work Schedules

Another work schedule option is a compressed work schedule (CWS). The arrival and departure times are a set time each day, but the employee is entitled to 1 nonworkday every 2 weeks on a 5-4/9 CWS. National Office employees may request a 4-10 CWS, which allows 1 nonworkday each work week. Employees working a CWS may request to earn compensatory time for hours worked in excess of their scheduled daily work hours or they may request overtime. Accumulated compensatory time can later be used for paid time-off from work. All work schedules must be approved by the employee's supervisor.
