RE: Federal Offset Program Processing Year (PY) 2001 Offset Fees and Fiscal Year (FY) 2001 Pre Offset Notice Fees

Dear Colleague:

The Department of Treasury Financial Management Service (FMS) has provided the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) with the offset fees for PY 2001. Effective January 1, 2001, the fee for Federal Income Tax Refund offsets will increase by $2.10 to $10.20 per offset, and the fee for Administrative offsets will also increase by $2.10 to $11.75 per offset. The Federal Offset program is a reimbursable program and this increase reflects the amount of money FMS must charge to meet the costs of operating the offset program.

In addition, if OCSE issues your Pre-Offset Notices (PON), we are pleased to report the fee will remain at $ 0.48 per notice for FY 2001 (October 1, 2000 to September 30, 2001). This covers the cost of the envelopes, as well as the printing, stuffing and mailing of the notices. The $ 0.48 fee will be charged for all notices mailed for FY 2001.
