Dear Colleague:

For the last two years, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has hosted a series of regional workshops focusing on the interrelationships between policy, programs, and child support systems with particular focus on interstate case processing. In response to positive feedback from State participants, OCSE is planning to hold two workshops in March 2000.

The March workshops will provide an excellent opportunity for your staff to learn how interstate cases can benefit from the use of the enhanced systems and automation tools provided by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA). Because many States have expressed interest in hearing how other States are making the new tools work for them and their interstate clients, this year’s workshops will focus heavily on State panels and audience participation.

The conference will include discussion on the following items:

Interstate Reform Initiative (IRI),
Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA),
National Directory of New Hires (NDNH),
Federal Case Registry (FCR),
State Disbursement Units (SDUs),
Interstate Roster and Referral Guide (IRG),
Multistate and In-State Financial Institution Data Match,
Undistributed Collections,
Data Quality,
CSENet 2000, and
Federal Offset Programs.

The workshops will be offered twice in March, one in San Antonio, Texas and the other in Washington, DC. We strongly encourage you to send a combination of program, policy including your interstate specialist, and systems staff, as well as representatives from your court system. As in years past, OCSE will pay up to three nights of hotel expenses for one attendee from your State (the first individual who registers, unless you notify us otherwise). Space is limited, so be sure to fax the enclosed registration form promptly. The Big 8 States are also holding a conference in March in which the same topics will be covered.
