TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS
RE: Employer Database Conference Call Notes
Dear Colleague:
On February 26, 2002, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) held a conference call open to all states to discuss the development and maintenance of an effective employer database within a statewide automated system. Representatives from 36 state IV-D agencies participated.
The purpose of the call was two-fold. First, OCSE wanted to showcase those states that have developed innovative techniques for maximizing the efficiency of their employer databases. Second, the call provided a forum for identifying problems with which states have struggled during the design and implementation of an employer database. Given the positive feedback from states, we believe the call was well-received and of considerable value.
Enclosed, please find notes from the conference call. These notes highlight topic areas covered during the call that pertain to development and maintenance of an employer database: data integrity, data duplication, database keys, controlling access, manual vs. automated solutions, third-party provider addresses, and health insurance information. During the call, states were encouraged to share information regarding these topic areas and to ask questions.
We appreciate states’ participation and willingness to share their knowledge during these teleconferences. If you have any questions regarding the call, please contact Linda Deimeke at 202-401-5439 or ldeimeke@acf.hhs.gov or Carol Callahan at 202-401-6969 or ccallahan@acf.hhs.gov.
Sincerely,
Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D.
