RE: 2nd National Symposium on Children, Courts, and the Federal Child Support Enforcement Program, May 28-30, 2003

Dear Colleague:

The Office of Child Support Enforcement’s (OCSE) 2nd National Symposium on Children, Courts, and the Federal Child Support Enforcement Program will be held at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Chicago from May 28-30, 2003. The 2½ day Symposium will conclude at noon on the 30th.

This event will bring together State and Tribal IV-D Directors, State Chief Justices, State Court Administrators, State Medicaid or SCHIP Directors, State IV-D System Managers, and Tribal Judges. While we are still working on the agenda, several major topics include medical coverage for support-eligible children, increased use of available database systems, paternity disestablishment, managing court options and procedures, arrears management and default orders, financing the Child Support Enforcement program (CSE), improving interstate case processing, and visitation as it relates to the CSE program.

OCSE will pay the travel costs for all invited participants, including State IV-D Directors and their IV-D System Managers, Tribal IV-D Directors, and a number of Tribal Judges. The National Center for State Courts and the State Information Technology Consortium (SITC) are assisting OCSE in the development and management of the Symposium.

Please contact SITC’s Sheila Drake at 703-742-7127, drake@software.org, to confirm your attendance and that of your IV-D System Manager. In the near future, we will provide you with additional agenda and travel information.

Sincerely,

Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D.
