WICHITA, Kan. -- To continue to provide assistance to disaster victims, the Cowley County Disaster Recovery Center has transitioned into a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center. The location is the District Office of USD-465, 1407 Wheat Road, Winfield, KS, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"The establishment of another Disaster Loan Outreach Center demonstrates our commitment to ensure that every qualified family and business receives the help they need to recover from this disaster," said Angee Morgan, state coordinating officer.

SBA customer service representatives will be available to answer questions and help applicants to complete their low-interest disaster loan applications.

SBA low-interest disaster loans can help homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private non-profit organizations pay for their disaster losses, according to SBA officials. They also will meet with applicants one-on-one and assist them in filling out their loan applications. Anyone not able to visit a center should call 1-800-659-2955 for SBA assistance or visit the website at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

To answer questions regarding FEMA applications, the Helpline is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, Monday through Saturday, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number for residents with special speech or hearing needs is TTY 1-800-462-7585.  Register online at www.fema.gov.

FEMA programs available to eligible applicants include funding for temporary disaster housing assistance, replacement grants for serious disaster-related needs, and expenses not covered by insurance or assistance programs.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
