Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers to Visit Iowa Counties

URBANDALE, Iowa -- In an effort to reach out to disaster-declared counties, two mobile Disaster Recovery Centers will visit five locations between June 1 and June 5, said officials at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD).

The mobile Disaster Recovery Centers will start by visiting Ida and Union counties on June 1. The centers serve individuals and families affected by severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes.

DRCs - both at mobile and fixed sites around the state - are open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and closed Sundays until further notice.

Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information. Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available to discuss disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. Written materials about various assistance programs are also available to individuals and business owners.

Before visiting one of the mobile centers, disaster victims are urged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or on-line at www.fema.gov. The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. Those who have questions may visit a mobile center to meet with recovery specialists in person.
