Most National Wildlife Research Center full-time personnel in Fort Collins and at field stations are employed in the following series classifications: Wildlife Biologist, Biological Science Technician, Chemist, and Physical Science Technician. Wildlife Biologist
Conducts wildlife research in laboratory and field settings from conception, design, data collection and analysis to reporting, oral presentation, or publication of results. Plans and reviews research proposals. Evaluates workforce and facilities needs. Supervises technicians and other scientists.

Biological Technician
Conducts or assists with field and laboratory studies on wildlife species of interest to the Center. This involves handling captive wildlife in accordance with animal welfare regulations, Good Laboratory Practices and EPA regulations. Technicians also build or procure cages and pens, maintain laboratory equipment and order supplies. Biological technicians organize and tabulate research data and assist with data analysis. Technicians write Standard Operating Procedures and other technical publications.

Chemist
Operates an array of instruments to perform basic qualitative and quantitative determinations of pesticides and other compounds in animal and plant tissue, soil, water and other materials or substrates. The chemist analyzes samples, performs calculations, evaluates and consolidates data and maintains accurate records. The chemist must have the ability to assist in the solution of technical problems encountered with laboratory methods and equipment. All records must meet Good Laboratory Practices standards.

Physical Science Technician
Assists Center research chemists. Prepares samples for chemical analysis. Operates basic laboratory equipment. Handles toxic substances in accordance with federal regulations. Maintains records following Good Laboratory Practices guidelines and regulations.

Post-Doctoral Appointments
Are available in cooperation with appropriate scientists and as needed to support Center research.

Sabbatical Positions
Opportunities for visiting scientists on sabbatical are available. Application must be made through proper channels and research must support the mission of the Center.
