Nashville, TN -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Red Kap Building in Wartburg will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 8. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily including Saturday and Sunday until the closure.

Federal Coordinating Officer Nick Russo said, "The number of people coming to the recovery center has decreased significantly, a sign that the long-term recovery process is well underway."

"This is the last of the recovery centers established for the recent tornadoes to close," said John D. White Jr., state coordinating officer. "But we will remain a partner in the recovery effort. And even though the center is closing, individuals affected by the disaster can still register for assistance."

Tennessee residents can register for assistance or get disaster recovery information by calling FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). Those with speech or hearing impairments can call TTY 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., local time, Monday through Friday.

The deadline to register for disaster assistance is January 13, 2003.
