A Joint Effort |

President George W. Bush deplanes Marine One on Keesler Air Force Base,
Miss., on Sept. 2, 2005. Bush visited the Biloxi area to examine the
destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, which battered the Gulf Coast with
wind gusts in excess of 140 miles per hour, flattening buildings and
flooding areas from Florida to Louisiana. Millions of people were left
without power and hundreds of thousands homeless. The humanitarian
assistance operations are a joint effort by the Defense Department in
conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Mike Buytas |
