| After a two-day bus drive from Gulfport, Miss., military retirees and veterans were greeted by more than 100 military and civilian volunteers from the National Capitol Region, Sept. 1, 2005. Volunteers from the National Capital Region rallied together to welcome and help in-process more than 400 veterans from the Gulfport Armed Forces Retirement Home to the Armed Forces Retirement Home-Washington, D.C., after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the Gulfport area.
