WASHINGTON, Jan. 30, 2006 - The Office of the Under Secretary for Food Safety and
the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Drug
Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will sponsor a public meeting to
provide information and receive comments on agenda items and draft U.S. positions that will be discussed
at the Seventh Session of the Codex Committee on Milk and Milk Products (CCMMP) of the
Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex). The formal committee session will be held at the Millenium
Hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, March 27-April 1, 2006.
The public meeting, which precedes the Codex session, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday,
March 14, 2006, in Room 2504, South Building, USDA, 14th Street and Independence Avenue, S.W.,
Washington, D.C. 20250. Agenda items may be accessed at

Pre-registration for the public meeting is required.
The CCMMP was established to elaborate codes, guidelines, standards and related texts for milk and milk products.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the
World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to
protect the health of consumers, ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards
undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
