Mary, everyone-
You can use ArcGIS (or another GIS program) to calculate bounding boxes
- i.e., add 4 fields to the attribute table (Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Ymax) and
use the Field Calculator to calculate the values. (The Field Calculator
works through all the features in the data set in one step, unless you
have selected some features, in which case it only calculates values for
the selected set.)
Someone created a free set of tools called EasyCalculator to do this -
it's quite easy to use. See support.esri.com or
http://www.ian-ko.com/ for details.
