Each hour opens with a VOA English newscast. VOA Music Mix is a unique format, available only from VOA. The bulk of weekday programming is personality-driven, drawing on our experienced music staff including Ray McDonald, Margot Braswell, and Larry London. The on-air approach for Music Mix is natural, conversational, and friendly. VOA Music Mix does not just play music; hosts include artist information, music news and lifestyle updates. We take listener calls, celebrate special occasions, and do live links with individual affiliate stations/networks. The VOA Music Mix staff also produces features and feature programs for use on News Now. This material covers a wide variety of American music including Rock, Country, Oldies, Bluegrass, and Jazz. Music Mix feature material is frequently used by VOA language broadcasters. The popular request program “Border Crossings,” hosted by Larry London, is part of the daily satellite feed and continues on the News Now network.
