In FFY 2000, the appropriation earmarked $50,000,000 for infant and toddler care. While the discretionary funding level did not change, the earmark was not authorized in the FFY 2001 appropriation. Continuation of the earmark is requested in the FFY 2001 President's Budget. Totals are the sum of Mandatory, Discretionary and the Federal Share of the Matching Funds. The proposed funding increase is not authorized in the FFY 2001 appropriation, but is requested in the FFY 2001 President's Budget. These funds are not included in the other columns or totals in these tables. Ten million dollars was earmarked for research, demonstration, and evaluation in FFY 2000. While the funds are included in the Discretionary appropriation for FFY 2001, they are not earmarked for research. The President's Budget requests the continuation of the earmark in FFY 2001. The FFY 2000 appropriation set-aside $500,000 for a toll-free child care hotline to be operated by Child Care Aware. The President's Budget requests the continuation of this set-aside for FFY 2001, and specifies that the amount come out of the $19.1 million earmark for resource and referral and school-age care. Note: Estimated allocations for the Matching and Discretionary funds are based on counts used to determine FFY 2000 allocations. The actual allocations for FFY 2001 can and will change based on new data. The State share estimate of the Matching Fund was based on FFY 2001 FMAP rates.
