By Janet Hall Bagby
2004
Summary: This resource guide lists and describes materials that provide support to before-school, after-school, summer, and community learning center programs for school-aged children. Using the same six training areas that The National Center for Community Education Training Task Force for 21st Century Community Learning Centers addressed, the guide alphabetically organizes entries within the following sections: (1) Management, including planning, leadership, team development, fiscal management, advocacy, and sustainability of the program; (2) Communication, including skills and strategies, marketing, public relations, and event planning; (3) Programming, including curriculum, mentoring, tutoring, youth development, and parent/community involvement; (4) Integrating K–12 and After-School Programs, including network development between K–12 education and after-school programs, building relationships with school personnel, and extending learning opportunities in after-school programs; (5) Community Building/Collaboration, including partnership development, understanding collaboration, and service delivery system development; and (6) Evaluation, including design, implementation, and documentation. Appendices provide a list of relevant Internet resources and alphabetical listings of all the Resource Guide entries by title and by author or editor.
