Here is a page which was posted here a couple of months ago http://www-cdf.lbl.gov/~av I thought the results were very interesting, although the calculation time needed was too long. The authors say it could easily be speeded up. One advantage is that with the technique used, it is easy to examine the bottom of the groove, below the zone of most damage. I think a lot will depend on the particular optical arrangement used. Most such microscopes are designed for metallurgy. Regards -- Don Cox [log in to unmask]
