Someone check the authority file of the Biblioteque National which is also conected to the Phonoteque National. Steve Smolian ----- Original Message ----- From: "Howard Friedman" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2008 12:59 PM Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] The Discographical Puzzle I don't know how else to get back into the fray, except to change the Subject line here. Regarding the conductor and violinist of the Trocadero Orchestra in London in August 1898, Bob Hodge says that his name was Leopold, according to Arnold's book "The Orchestra on Record - 1896-1926" Fred Gaisberg also says Leopold. Alan Kelly lists his recordings as J. Jacobs or J. J. Jacobs, while all the records I have seen - both of them - say G. Jacobs. Incidentally, Bob Hodge, the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto recordings are listed in Kelly's unlettered catalog as J J JACOBS 1850 5-4-99 E7917 Violin Concerto: Finale (Mendelssohn) 1851 6-4-99 E7918 Légende: 1st Movement (Wieniawski) 1852 1853 6-4-99 E7916 Violin Concerto: 1st Movement (Mendelssohn) Can anyone provide a solution, G., J., Jacques, or Leopold? Howard Friedman
