I just picked up an LP with an identity crisis..Musicians Of The Past, Volume 1: Piano Solos, proclaiming ACTUAL PERFORMANCES (NOT PIANO ROLLS) by Debussy, Saint-Saens, d'Albert, Busoni, Grieg and Mary Garden. Nice cover art, professionally written liner notes..not the usual slapdash stuff that came out on Audio Rarities or Audio Archives. The label in fact identifies the album as being on Audio Archives (with a different logo from all others I've seen), a paste-over on the front cover identifies the manufacturer as Audio Masterworks, the back cover doesn't show any ID except LPA 1203, and the numbers in the land show a totally different issue #, LPR 2001A and LPR 2001B. Matrix numbers on the label are ST 2001A and ST 2001B, just to add to the confusion. And the disc is cut by Peter Bartok, not the usual zhlubs who did Audio Archives. So..who put this out? Anybody? dl
