2 of the software developers I contacted have shown some real interest in writing some decent BWF metadata editors. Functional / interface desires, anyone? Send to me or better yet post them for discussion, and I'll pass them on to the developers who seem interested. I have no commercial interests myself here... -----Original Message----- From: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Scott Phillips Sent: Friday, March 18, 2005 10:30 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] .wav file content information I've passed on the interest in such an editor to a number of programmers I know that already work with .wav files and writing tools to alter or process them. Within 15 minutes I got several replies indication that they would be interested in undertaking writing some simple PC software tools for working with the metadata information for archiving uses, either as freeware or shareware. It would help if list members could forward to me on or off list any available information on BWF standards/data/ related information, as well as the most desired features. I'll pass this on to the interested programmers. For features, K.I.S.S. , these folks are talking about a freebee basically for us. Anyway any information / links would be helpful..... I have no idea what might come of this, but nothing ventured.... -----Original Message----- From: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Scott Phillips Sent: Friday, March 18, 2005 9:33 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] .wav file content information I can pass this one on to a programmer I know as well to see if he would be interested. He's PC only, but that might be a good thing in this case. -----Original Message----- From: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Angie Dickinson Sent: Friday, March 18, 2005 9:20 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] .wav file content information Well, hey, thanks guys. But be careful. I can usually tell when someone is of a certain age when I refer to her in association with my company name. I get blank looks from 20-somethings. I, along with Dave, would really like to know what else is available for editing bwf metadata info. This issue has been raised in a pro audio circle recently as well. I have a good friend who wrote a wave header editor for changing erroneous or corrupted resolution info which is useful when, say an ADAT or DA-88 tape has been formated for 48K and the operator sets the machine at 44.1 instead. Anyway, I will shoot him an email about writing a bwf editor. He might do it if there is enough interest.
