VACANCY NO: S000372 POSITION TITLE: Audio Specialist - Gospel Music Restoration Project DEPARTMENT NAME: Electronic Library - Resources and Collection PURPOSE: This position specifically supports the mission by working on Baylor University's Gospel Music Restoration Project, a privately funded project. The Audio Specialist will digitize and document rare, fragile, and sensitive audio materials (primarily, but not limited to, vinyl sound discs) according to current standards, guidelines, and best practices for digitization and preservation. This position is grant funded and scheduled to end June of 2008. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree equivalency in audio production or related field is required with at least three years of experience in audio studio or audio archive. Knowledge is required in the following areas: audio recording and digitization techniques, audio equipment operation, maintenance, handling and caring for recordings, specialized equipment used for audio preservation and digitization, digital signal processing, and historic audio formats. Additionally, candidates must have strong organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrated computer skills as well as the ability to work independently. A Bachelor's degree with five or more years of experience is preferred as well as the knowledge of the recommended practices and guidelines for archival restoration and transfer of sound recordings.
