This solution definitely works BUT you have to spring for the (somewhat expensive) real-deal industrial version, not the garbage sold at Home Despot and the like. Those shelves are too thin and too weak to support the weight. Plus, they now have a pressboard "shelf" that sits in a gutter/lip of the cheapest/sharpest steel available at the Chinese factory on manufacturing day. The result is instant damage to any record sleeve dragged over that lip or sitting on the lip. And that pressboard just won't hold the weight of LPs, or 78's. So, if you are willing to spring for real-deal heavy steel versions, yes this definitely works. -- Tom Fine PS - some of my father's 78's were sitting on Sears "consumer" version of these shelves from the 1970's. Yes, back then they were bolted together and had all-metal shelves, but they were still thin and cheap. We took one box out and the whole shelf started to collapse in on the gap! Man, that was one fast shelf-emptying for two people. No records lost but lesson learned. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Hirsch" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, August 08, 2006 12:09 AM Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] LP RECORD STORAGE > I'm surprised no one has suggested metal industrial shelving.
