The Library of Congress News Service can now be accessed onFedWorld, a new "gateway" service to more than 100 federallymanaged bulletin boards.
The Library of Congress News Service is No. 60. The numberto access FedWorld via a modem-equipped computer is (703) 321-8020. The News Service is also still accessible by directlycalling (202) 707-3854 using a modem.
The LC News Service is a new source for information aboutthe Library -- its programs, exhibits, activities, hours ofoperation and job openings.
The News Service will also enable users to get editedversions of stories and announcements from the LC InformationBulletin approximately two weeks before they appear in print.
The News Service, will not, however, provide access to theLibrary's bibliographic data bases, nor will other Libraryservices be available through the News Service.
The service is available free of charge to anyone having apersonal computer and modem.
The News Service now offers several new menus, including oneproviding information on LC's Center for the Book and a specialmenu for exhibitions at the Library. New menus are planned.
