Wendy...
We are using A People and A Nation (Brief edition) from Houghton-Mifflin
4th edition..edited by Mary Beth Norton among others in our American
Studies curriculum.. I switched to the book this year because of its focus
on issues of race, gender, and to some degree class. It is heavily
supplemented by outside reading books and independent research projects.
I'd be happy to share some of our ideas with you or anyone else who is
interested....it would be interesting after canvassing the whole group and
finding out what the preferences are to put together a list of recommended
texts and supplemental readings.I think other US History/American Studies
teachers would be interested in the groups recommendations.
