The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) was a winner in the second annual National Mature Media Awards. This program recognizes the nation's top advertising, marketing and educational materials designed and produced for older adults.
"La Lectura Es para Todos" ("Reading Is for Everyone"), a colorful flexible-disc and large-print brochure, received a Merit Award. Those involved in the production and design of "La Lectura Es para Todos" are Robert E. Fistick, head of the Publications and Media Section, George Thuronyi, writer-editor in the Publications and Media Section, and James Herndon, foreign languages librarian in the Collection Development Section.
"We were delighted to take part in the Mature Media Awards Program this year, and we were honored to be selected as a winner," said Frank Kurt Cylke, director, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
Other award winners included the National Institute on Aging, the National Institutes of Health, the Affiliated Health Services and the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging.
All entries were judged by a panel of mature market experts with a combined 300 years of professional experience.
