Schedule for the State and National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) from 2008 to 2017NAEP assessments currently scheduled for administration are listed below. This schedule assumes continuing legislative authority; also, the schedule may be augmented, with advance public notice, as resources permit. A chronology of the NAEP assessments that have been conducted since 1969 is also available. The schedule below was approved by the National Assessment Governing Board on August 2, 2008. The Governing Board reexamined the assessment schedule for 2003 and beyond to address the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. According to the new law,
1 Updated or new framework is planned for implementation in this subject. In the case of subjects for which frameworks are already adopted, the Board will decide whether a new or updated framework is needed for this assessment year. 2 New framework for grade 12 mathematics only, in 2009. 3 For 2009, there is a pilot study of state-level results, for which eleven states volunteered. NOTE: At the national level, grades tested are 4, 8, and 12 unless otherwise indicated, except that long-term trend assessments sample students at ages 9, 13, and 17.
