THE COPYRIGHT ROYALTY BOARD ADJUSTS RATES AND TERMS FOR
PREEXISTING SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES (72 FR 71795) AND PUBLISHES
FINAL RULE ON DIGITAL PERFORMANCE RIGHT IN SOUND RECORDINGS
AND EPHEMERAL RECORDINGS FOR NEW SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE

The Copyright Royalty Judges published final regulations
setting the royalty rates and terms for the use of sound
recordings and the making of ephemeral phonorecords by
preexisting subscription services for the period January 1,
2008, through December 31, 2012. For more information, go

In addition, the Copyright Royalty Judges published final
regulations setting the rates and terms for the use of sound
recordings in transmissions made by new subscription services
and for the making of the ephemeral recordings necessary for
the facilitation of such transmissions for the period
commencing from the inception of a new subscription service

statutory license for the period 2008 through 2012

January 1: Effective date for final regulations setting
the royalty rates and terms for the use of sound recordings
and the making of ephemeral recording by preexisting
subscription services for the period 2008 through 2012
(72 FR 71795).
January 21: Effective date for final regulations
setting the rates and terms for the use of sound recordings
in transmissions made by new subscription services and for
the making of the ephemeral recordings necessary for the
facilitation of such transmissions for the period commencing
from the inception of a new subscription service through
December 31, 2010 (72 FR 72253).
