Health Expenditures by Age

Personal health care (PHC) estimates by type of service and source of funding are broken out in seven age groups: 0-18, 19-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, 75-84, and 85 and over. These estimates can also be seen in three main age groups: Children (ages 0-18), Working-age Adults (ages 19-64), and Elderly (ages 65 and over). In this work we update earlier estimates of health care spending trends by age through 2004, including an analysis of the future aging population through 2050.
