Fire is a very common, unpredictable disaster that can result in the loss of human lives, as well as in the physical destruction of homes, businesses, neighborhoods, livestock, and wildlife. In addition, fires may cause serious emotional distress to children and families.

The Terrorism and Disaster Branch of the NCTSN has provided information and resources about wildfires and residential fires to help parents know what they can do to protect their family's emotional well-being in the event and aftermath of a fire.
