ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has joined with the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) to staff a Disaster Recovery Center in New City starting today.

The center is located at the Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Avenue in New City, 10956 and will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The facility is staffed with FEMA, state agencies, disaster experts and SBA loan officers.

Low-interest loans from the SBA, which have no closing costs or other fees, are the primary source of financial aid to residents who need to repair or rebuild and to businesses with physical damage or economic losses. Homeowners and renters also may be eligible for housing grants.

Three other DRCs currently open are in these Westchester County locations: Eastchester Public Library, 11 Oakridge Place in Eastchester, 10709; Town Center Senior Nutrition Community Center, 740 West Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, 10543 and the New Rochelle Emergency Operations Center, 90 Beaufort Place in New Rochelle, 10801. Hours of operation at all centers are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
