FEMA Announces Citizen Corps Councils In Massachusetts

Boston, MA -- FEMA is pleased to announce the creation of two new Citizen Corps Councils in Massachusetts. We congratulate the State and its citizens on answering President Bush’s call to service. These Councils will help drive volunteer efforts by coordinating Citizen Corps programs and expanding and creating opportunities for citizens to get involved with the State’s emergency preparedness and response efforts.

Citizen Corps Councils are integral to arranging necessary volunteer training and providing information for public education and awareness efforts. Working with State and Federal agencies, Citizen Corps Councils will coordinate important programs at the local level such as Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Volunteers in Police Service, Neighborhood Watch, and Medical Reserve Corps.
