Baton Rouge, LA -- Three more Louisiana parishes today were declared eligible for assistance under provisions of the Individual Assistance (IA) program as a result of the back-to-back landfalls by Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili.

The three are Grant, LaSalle and Ouachita. They were added by Director Joe M. Allbaugh of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In all, 39 of the 44 declared parishes are now eligible for the IA program, which includes a number of programs that range from temporary housing for homeowners and renters to individual and family grants.

The program provides funds for eligible homeowners and renters whose residences and personal property were damaged by winds or floods of a declared disaster.

All 44 parishes are eligible for FEMA's Public Assistance programs, which provides matching funding for the state, parishes, municipalities and private, non-profit agencies. The public assistance program applies to the repairing or replacement of streets and bridges, water, sewer and utility plants that are publicly owned.

To register for disaster assistance, call toll-free 800-621-FEMA. Persons with speech or hearing impairments should call (TTY/TDD) 800-462-7585.
