Baton Rouge, LA -- Assumption Parish today was added to the Louisiana disaster declaration by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director Joe M. Allbaugh.

The parish now will be eligible for assistance for damages caused by Hurricane Lili for all programs of Public Assistance (PA), which applies to the state, cities, municipalities, parishes and certain private, non-profit groups.

Allbaugh's action now makes it possible for the parish to be repaid for its handling of Tropical Storm Isidore debris along highway rights-of-way and costs of emergency services, such as overtime for police, firemen and other vital personnel.

The parish already has been declared eligible for other categories of PA and for individual assistance.
