SBA Workshops To Close Down This Friday

Baton Rouge, LA -- U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) officials announced plans to cease operations at their five Louisiana disaster loan-assistance centers at 6 p.m. (close-of-business) on Fri. Nov. 22.
The centers were established in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili to help answer questions about available low-interest disaster loans and to provide assistance with applications.
Parish residents who registered for disaster assistance are welcome to visit the workshops between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. before they close down.
The workshops are located at:
Iberia: City Park Community Center 300 Park View Drive, New Iberia, La.;
Lafayette: Martin Luther King Center, 309 Cora Street, Lafayette, La.;
Orleans: Municipal Training Academy, 401 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, La.;
St. Tammany: Towers Bldg. 5th Floor, 520 Old Spanish Trail, Slidell, La.; and
Terrebonne/Lafourche: Courthouse Annex, 7856 Main St. Suite 100, Houma, La.
An SBA spokesperson said that even though these facilities are closing, all residents and business owners with questions about SBA loans may call 800-366-6303, (TDD) 800-267-4688 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Mon. through Fri. to talk with loan specialists.
Residents with uninsured damages or losses caused by Tropical Storm Isidore or Hurricane Lili are encouraged to apply for disaster assistance by calling 800-621-FEMA, (TTY/TDD) 800-462-7585 before the 60-day disaster application period closes on Dec. 2.
After registration, applicants with questions about Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) programs or the status of their applications may choose the FEMA Helpline option available at the registration number.
