Corpus Christi, TX -- A federal/state mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will return to Aransas Pass on Sunday, November 24, 2002. The center will serve those affected by the severe weather and flooding that began on October 24.

The federal/state mobile DRC will open Sunday, November 24 and remain open through Tuesday, November 26. The center will be located at Precinct 1A Voting Center, at the corner of Stapp Rd. and North Commercial (Business Rt. 35) in Aransas Pass. Hours will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Qualified state and federal personnel staff the centers to provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Disaster programs include disaster housing assistance, grants for disaster-related needs, low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, disaster unemployment assistance and crisis counseling.

State Coordinating Officer Duke Mazurek and Federal Coordinating Officer Sandy Coachman urge those with questions to visit the center to talk face-to-face with a recovery specialist.

"We want all those who have disaster assistance questions to feel free to visit the DRC," said Duke Mazurek. "If you need help, please visit any DRC."

Individuals who sustained disaster-related losses as a result of the October 24 tornadoes and subsequent severe storms and flooding must re-register for this disaster even though they may have received assistance for a previous disaster. Those who have not yet registered need to call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired. The registration lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
