Federal-State Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Slana and Tetlin

Anchorage, AK - Residents and business owners in Copper River and Alaska Gateway Regional Education Attendance Areas (REAA) who have questions or concerns about their earthquake recovery may now receive one-on-one assistance.

To further help individuals affected by the November 3-10 earthquake and aftershocks, the Alaska Division of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will operate Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) in Slana and Tetlin from noon on Saturday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 27.

The DRC locations and hours of operation are:

Slana, Mile 4 Nabesna Rd.
Saturday, November 23: noon - 4 p.m.
Sunday, November 24 through
Wednesday, November 27: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Tetlin, Tetlin Community Center
Saturday, November 23: noon - 4 p.m.
Sunday, November 24 through
Wednesday, November 27: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Plans are in process for DRCs in the communities of Mentasta Lake and Northway. Specific dates, times, and locations will be announced shortly.

Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies will be present, including loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The disaster programs available include FEMA's Individual and Households Program, disaster unemployment assistance, SBA low-interest disaster loans, and other aid programs.
