Columbus, MS -- State, federal, local and voluntary agencies are working in partnership to help Mississippi residents recover from the recent severe storms and tornadoes. Following is a summary of ongoing response and recovery efforts as of close of business, Thursday, November 21, 2002. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will update this information on a daily basis from their Joint Information Center in Jackson, Miss.

Individuals affected by the disaster are encouraged to register at the FEMA toll-free tele-registration number at 800-621-FEMA (3362), or for the speech or hearing impaired, TTY 800-462-7585. Phone lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
