Columbus, MS -- Anyone affected by the recent tornadoes can visit with state, federal, local and voluntary agencies at a mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) which will move to a new location during the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24, the mobile DRC will be at Stephen's Chapel Baptist Church at 514 20th Street North in Columbus. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The mobile DRC will be at Zion Gate Baptist Church at 1202 5th Street South until 5 p.m. Friday.

In addition a Disaster Recovery Center is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week at the former Lowe's Home Supply at 2320 Highway 45 North in Columbus.

Representatives will help explain how to apply for money to pay for repairs, medical expenses or temporary housing, and for Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also will be on hand to help applicants. They also will have information on a variety of programs available to those who qualify.

"Our first job is to help those who have been affected by this disaster," said Federal Coordinating Officer Michael Bolch. "Visiting a DRC gives those who have questions the opportunity to talk with someone face to face and get the answers they need."

"The mobile DRC will travel to different locations in order to place help closer to those who need it," said State Coordinating Officer Leon Shaifer. "We urge all those who suffered losses and damages to call the FEMA toll-free number before visiting a DRC."

FEMA's toll-free tele-registration number is 800-621-FEMA (3362), or for the speech or hearing impaired, 800-462-7585.
