Phoenix, AZ -- The following is an update of the state and federal response to the flooding of Oct. 21 to Nov. 8 flooding in Arizona:

Chronological Course of Events in Arizona Recovery:
Oct. 23 - Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) begin preliminary flood damage estimates.
Oct. 26 - Gov. Jane Dee Hull requests federal disaster assistance in response to flooding in LaPaz, Maricopa, Santa Cruz and Cochise counties.
Oct. 27 - President Bill Clinton issues a disaster declaration offering federal assistance to Maricopa and La Paz counties for individual assistance; to Cochise, La Paz and Santa Cruz for infrastructure assistance.
Oct. 31 - Gov. Hull visits disaster sites.
Oct. 31 - Volunteer agencies active in the disaster recovery announce that no more donated material goods are needed for flood victims, but cash donations continue to be most useful.
Nov. 3 - Local Assistance Center opens in Salome to help flood victims.
Nov. 3 - First checks sent to residents of La Paz and Maricopa counties who applied for state and federal disaster assistance.
Nov. 4 - Disaster Field Office opened in Phoenix to administer state and federal disaster assistance programs available as a result of the Arizona flooding.
Nov. 4 - Local Assistance Center opens in Wickenburg to help flood victims.
Nov. 8 - Property owners in affected counties are encouraged to purchase flood insurance through he National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Nov. 9 - State, federal disaster officials brief La Paz Supervisors on recovery efforts.
Nov. 10 - Residents urged to be careful when returning to flood-damaged homes.
Nov. 14 - Free legal services made available to flood victims from the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association.
Nov. 15 - Gov. Hull signs agreement with federal authorities ensuring assistance to flood victims.
Nov. 16 - Pinal county and the Gila River Indian Community added to the presidential disaster declaration for individual assistance; clearing the way for residents and business owners there to apply for state and federal disaster assistance. Maricopa County, already designated for individual assistance, is added for infrastructure assistance.
Nov. 18 - Local Assistance Center opens in Aguila to help flood victims (for one day only).
Nov. 20 - Toll Free Disaster Helpline telephone number announced available for usage by flood victims.
Nov. 21 - Local Assistance Center reopens in Aguila (for one day only).
Nov. 25 - Local Assistance Center opens in Wenden.
