More than $884,000 in disaster assistance has been approved for victims to help them meet their most basic disaster recovery needs.

The following serves as a summary of the joint disaster recovery operation.

Those who have registered and want to check on the status of their application, change application information or get further disaster assistance information can call FEMA’s toll-free Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 (choose option two). The Helpline is open from 6 a.m. to midnight (EST), Monday through Friday.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
