SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- To assist Illinois residents who suffered damage from the March 11-13 severe storms and tornadoes, the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) announce the opening of an additional Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for Morgan and Greene counties. The DRC will be open April 13-16, and will be located at:

EMS Building
130 State Highway 267
Murrayville, IL

Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Friday, and Saturday ONLY. Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide detailed program information to those who have applied or need to apply for assistance under President Bush's March 28 disaster declaration.

Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies will be present, including representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA makes low-interest federal disaster loans available to homeowners, renters, businesses, and private non-profit organizations of all sizes whose property was damaged or destroyed in the eligible declared counties.

Before coming to the DRC, Illinois homeowners, renters, and business owners should register with FEMA immediately by calling the toll-free number 1-800-621 FEMA (3362); TTY 1-800-462-7585. Telephone lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT, seven days a week, until further notice. People may also apply 24 hours a day, online at FEMA’s new user-friendly website: www.fema.gov.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
