SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The New Braunfels and Seguin Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 due to a decline in the number of daily visits, according to Ed Laundy, Texas Division of Emergency Management's State Coordinating Officer.

"The closing of the centers does not diminish the assistance we can provide to the victims," said Laundy. "However, the deadline for applying for disaster assistance for Comal and Guadalupe County residents is Monday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m., and there is no extension planned after that final date."

Area residents can still get answers to any questions, from applying for disaster assistance to the status of their applications, by calling the following toll-free numbers: for registration: 1-800-462-9029 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585); for questions about the status of applications already submitted call the Helpline: 1-800-525-0321 (TTY: 1-800-660-8005); and for questions about Small Business Administration loans: 1-800-366-6306.

The New Braunfels DRC, located at 111 W. Garden St., has been visited nearly 2,400 times since its opening on Oct. 28. The Seguin DRC, located at 202 N. Camp St, has had almost 2,300 visits.
