SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Continued temporary rental assistance is available for victims of the October and November Texas floods. In addition, rental assistance may be renewed on a case-by-case basis by renters as well as homeowners.

Flood victims needing such additional help are encouraged to call and update disaster assistance officials about their continued need, according to the Texas Division of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"Ensuring that flood victims have every opportunity to live in safe, secure and sanitary housing is one of our top goals," said State Coordinating Officer Ed Laundy and Federal Coordinating Officer Robert Hendrix in a joint statement issued today.

To update FEMA about the need for additional temporary rental assistance flood victims should contact the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY: 1-800-660-8005).

The Helpline is staffed by disaster recovery specialists from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
