KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Federal and state officials are reminding Kansans that free help for disaster related stress is just a phone call away.
If you are experiencing emotional distress as a result of the severe storms and flooding which ravaged south-central Kansas from October 30 to November 15 and you live in one of the counties listed below, assistance is available.

Referrals for short-term intervention counseling services for the residents of the above counties are available at no cost until January 4, 1999.
Anyone who sustained damage from the flooding and severe storms which occurred between October 30 and November 15, 1998, should register with FEMA by calling the toll-free teleregistration number: 1-800-462-9029. TTY service is available at 1-800-462-7585 for anyone who is hearing- or speech-impaired. The registration numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CST), Monday through Friday.
