Kansas City, KS -- Officials from the State of Kansas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a disaster recovery center to assist individuals hard-hit by the recent tornadoes. The center will open in Wyandotte County, Kansas on Friday, May 9, 2003. The center will be located at:
Eisenhower Recreation Center
2901 North 72nd Street
Kansas City, Kansas
Hours of operation for Friday are 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, May 11, 9-6 p.m.
Thereafter Mon.-Sat. 9-6 p.m.
The center will be manned with experts to answer questions, provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners.
Some disaster programs include Individuals and Households housing assistance and other needs assistance programs, and low interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This is the first of several planned recovery centers to serve those affected by the tornadoes.
