Miami, FL -- To further help individuals and businesses affected by the March 27 severe storms and tornadoes, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at the Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22nd Ave. (3 rd floor), Miami-Dade County. Center hours will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

The center is designed to provide detailed program information to those who have already applied for or need assistance under President Bush's April 25 disaster declaration for Miami-Dade County. Representatives from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and other agencies will be present. Programs available include temporary housing assistance and other assistance programs.

Applicants are encouraged to apply before visiting the centers by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the speech- or hearing-impaired. The registration line is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
