Seattle, WA -- Bioterrorism Preparedness and Avoiding Casualties Among Caregivers will be two of the major topics at the Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference that opens Tuesday, April 22, at the Double Tree Hotel in Bellevue. More than 500 emergency managers and responders from government and non-profit agencies, businesses and schools will attend the sold-out (wait-list only) two-day conference. According to Department of Homeland Security FEMA Regional Director and day-one luncheon speaker John Pennington, effective partnerships are essential to effective emergency management.

"As the largest and most successful regional emergency preparedness conference in the Pacific Northwest, Partners in Emergency Preparedness helps build and reinforce invaluable relationships with future partners while learning cutting edge skills from acknowledged experts," said Pennington.

Washington State Emergency Management Director Glen Woodbury agreed. "From 'Lessons Learned' to 'All Hazards Readiness,' this is the emergency conference for learning and networking about how to prepare for all hazards - natural and manmade."

Featured presenters include KOMO TV's Steve Poole, Bellevue Square Management President Kemper Freeman Jr., City of New York Recovery and Mitigation Director MaryAnn Marrocolo, and John W. Carlsen, former Director of Emergency Management for Nassau County, New York. Breakout sessions range from Bioterrorism Preparedness in Washington and Ground Breaking Events in the Puget Lowland, to Neighborhood Preparedness for Terrorist Acts and Critical Infrastructure Protection.
