Charleston, WV - State and federal officials announced the opening of the Jackson County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on April 15 at the New Ripley Fire Dept., 337 West Main St., Ripley, WV. The center will be open through Thursday, April 17.

The Wyoming County DRC opens April 17 at Twin Falls Resort State Park in the Main Lodge Conference Facility. The center will be open through April 19. All DRCs are open Monday - Saturday 10 am to 7 pm. DRCs provide information to those affected by the damage and losses caused by the severe winter storm Feb. 16 through Mar. 28.

West Virginia State Coordinating Officer Stephen S. Kappa and Federal Coordinating Officer Louis Botta urge those with questions to visit one of the centers. "There is a wide range of disaster-recovery information available at the centers," Kappa said. "This is an opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

The recent amendment to the Feb. 16 winter storm disaster declaration designated Jackson and Wyoming counties for federal disaster assistance. This brings the total number of counties to 24 where individuals, households and businesses can obtain recovery assistance for disaster-related damages and losses.

Individuals are encouraged to call the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free teleregistration number 800-621-FEMA (3362) to apply for assistance. People with hearing or speech impairments may call (TTY) 800-462-7585.

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide information on low-interest loans and help applicants complete disaster loan applications for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. For more information, please visit SBA's Website @ www.SBA.gov/disaster.
