Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Mingo County

Charleston, WV - State and federal officials announced the opening of the tenth West Virginia Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to provide information to those affected by the damage and losses caused by the severe winter storm Feb. 16 through Mar. 28.

Opening Saturday, April 12, will be the Williamson Disaster Recovery Center located at the Williamson City Fire Department, 104 East 4th Avenue. The DRC is open Saturday through Tuesday, April 15, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All DRCs are closed Sunday.

Individuals are encouraged to call the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free teleregistration number 800-621-FEMA (3362) to apply for assistance. People with hearing or speech impairments may call (TTY) 800-462-7585.

West Virginia State Coordinating Officer Stephen S. Kappa and Federal Coordinating Officer Louis Botta urge those with questions to visit one of the centers. "There is a wide range of disaster-recovery information available at the centers," Kappa said. "This is an opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide information on low-interest loans and help applicants complete disaster loan applications for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. For more information, please visit SBA's Website @ www.SBA.gov/disaster.
